How do the courses work?

In my classes you learn French for everyday life.  I choose topics that are interesting, engaging, and relevant to the student(s). We utilize French to learn about the impact French culture has had on the social and cultural setting of New Orleans. I also emphasize interactive courses and fun activities for children and adolescents.  We work with books, videos, and audio recordings that are specifically selected for my classes.  The lessons are fully adapted to your individual needs!  My French classes have a very important social component — the desire to bring together people from different generations and countries who are interested in French language and culture.

Everyday life & French Culture

This is a general course for all who want to learn French for everyday life and to learn more about French culture.  Students will watch videos and audio recording selected especially for this class and will work on vocabulary and grammar from those videos in order to spur dialogue which can be practiced in everyday life.  The French expressions students will learn are common in French language and will take the students’ level of comprehension to the next level.  Emphasis is placed on reinforcement of conversation skills.

Arts & Culture

The target audience for this special course are students interested in art, music, literature, and cinema, who wish to improve their oral comprehension and have a wider understanding of contemporary French culture. Students will learn about modern and contemporary arts. We will talk about the current trends in French culture in each of these fields. By watching short clips of French film or looking at artwork, or by listening to audio French books and commenting on the subject, students will improve and expand their knowledge of the French arts. Different teaching methods will be used to meet individual students’ needs. We will also take this opportunity to learn about New Orleans culture.  As a French teacher as well as an artist, I am able to give students an insider’s look at the New Orleans art scene.
